The Great North Luzon Adventure

Posted in adventures, dreams, interests, photos on January 2, 2009 by anairam

What was supposed to be a trip to visit my tita in Isabela and a side trip to Pagudpud ended up as an adventure road trip to various parts of Northern Luzon.

nla route

Quezon City via NLEX to Baliwag, Bulacan> Nueva Ecija> Nueva Vizcaya> Santiago, Isabela> Cagayan> Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte> Vigan, Ilocos Sur> Bauang, La Union, La Trinidad, Benguet> Baguio City, Benguet> Ambuklao Dam, Benguet> Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya> Santiago, Isabela> Nueva Vizcaya> Nueva Ecija> Baliwag, Bulacan> via NLEX to Quezon City

My family left the Kamias, QC Victory bus terminal at around 11:20 PM (December 26) and arrived in Isabela at around 7:30AM (December 27) the next day. We ate breakfast there, stayed for 3 hours and finally the journey to the farther north began. First destination was Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. We traveled via the rented van and passed by several towns and cities along Isabela and Cagayan Provinces. We had some stop-overs of course to empty the bladder ^_^. Finally, we arrived in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte at around 6pm (8 hours travel time).

pagudpud beach

The 3 families stayed at a resort for the night, enjoyed the view, the breeze, & the sea, and at around 1:30 PM (December 28), we went off to our next destination, Baguio…

On our way to Baguio, we made some “special” stop-overs. First to Bangui, Ilocos Norte, where we saw the Wind farm (windmill beside the shore), then to Vigan, Ilocos Sur. We arrived Vigan at around 5:30 PM, it was alrbangui winfarmeady dusk and we didn’t bother to explore much (because we have a long journey ahead of us), but hadvigan few minutes to visit the Cathedral and the Vigan Empanadaan (special mention Jolibee @ Vigan, haha). Then off we went to continue our adventure.

We arrived in Baguio at around 12midnight (December 29), ate late dinner at baguioBurnham Park & headed to NIA resthouse in La Trinidad, Benguet to retire for the night. Around 11AM we went to loiter a bit in Baguio City, went to Wright park (where my sister & nephew went horseback riding), passed by Camp John Hay (and saw more “urban” establishments in place), and spent the rest of the afternoon at Burnham Park (cousins and sister went boat riding). At around 2pm, we went back on the road back to Isabela.

It was a bumpy ride this time, as we took another unfamiliar route (neitherambuklao damMarcos Highway nor Kennon Road, which where the usual routes to and off Baguio). We ventured on the zigzag roads of Benguet Mountains, and even saw the Ambuklao dam (and it was a good thing that we traveled there in the afternoon, as some people stated that it was considered a “critical” route, full of hold-uppers during the night). 8 hours later we were back in the comfort of our tita’s house in Isabela.

12AM and unable to sleep, I watched 2 movies on HBO (Sleepy Hollow & Shrek 3). Some misunderstanding caused a little delay with us going to Manila, and left Isabela at around 4pm na. Arrived home in Quezon City at around 2AM (December 31). Slept and got ready for my December 31 duty. haha.

So far, my most memorable travel adventure ever. Looking forward to more travels, to the rest of the country, of Asia, of Europe, of the World. Haha.

My Fictional Self

Posted in dreams, interests, me time, photos, reviews, television on November 20, 2007 by anairam

I’m into blogging again these days, scribbling-scribbling in my little notebook when I’ve got nothing else to do or in between my hectic schedule nowadays. For now I thought of posting some of my favorite fictional and TV series characters from then on till now. I remembered passing by some blog somewhere before on which the author counted down his favorite TV character leading ladies. I was inspired by it and thought why not put into one page some of my faves altogether. And here goes… (not in order of priority).

>>> Sailor Moon (anime) <<<
sailormercury Sailor Mercury/ Ami Mizuno

–> I was about 8-10 years old when Sailor Moon was shown locally here in the Philippines. It was a hit during those times in our school. My friends even bought some CD’s (or was it VHS that time?) of it and have some collectable cards and items of them. I was contented then by the text cards I’ve collected and some paper dolls. My personal favorite was really Sailor Mercury though were quite different in the physical aspect. My hair was jet black and was long and flowy as that of Sailor Mars. Though I’ve associated myself with her personality wise– back in grade school I was the “intelligent” one, always on the top 10 if not the top 1, quite shy but is nice overall.

>>> Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (live action) <<<

Ami Mizuno/ Sailor Mercury/ played by Hama Chisaki

–> Quite surprisingly, there was a live version of Sailor Moon pala. Being a Sailor Mercury fan, instantly she was my favorite in the live version. And I liked how they chose the actors in the live version. Hama-chan was so great in playing my favorite character. And her co-actors even stated in one interview that she was a really good and effective actress.

>>> The Gransazers <<<

Ryoko Anemiya/ Sazer Velsou/ played by Maya Hoshino

I’ve learned about Gransazers from Toonami on Cartoon Network, and figured if CN aired the show, then it must be good. I was also seeing more of Gransazers when it was also aired in I think both Channel 2 and 7, early Sunday mornings i think (pero malamang di sabay pag-air sa both hetworks). Anyways, it’s basically a story of 12 people, who represents the 12 zodiac signs, destined to save the world (from cavities!). First and foremost Ryoko represents Aquarius, which is my sign. And also I think she is the prettiest of all the 4 girls in the series. And being Aquarius, she also represents everything about it, the character, the powers (Aquarius is an air sign) etc. There. Much reasons given.

>>> Encantadia <<<

amihan.jpg Amihan/ played by Iza Calzado

From foreign series to local. Encantadia, I think is still the best fantaserye for me (the original first series before Etheria and Encantadia-Pag-ibig Hanggang Wakas). Why Amihan? Well, aside from liking color blue (which is her theme color), my favorite element is Air (which is her power). Also personality wise, of the 4 sisters, I mostly could associated myself with her being the genuinely nice one- that sometimes her niceness was taken advantage for. And as for the actors, I think Iza has really good, and she really was my favorite among the actresses. And also, I played Amihan’s character during our talent show in school last November 2005, with all the costumes hand made and customized to look like the original but with personal twists. Too bad we didn’t win but it was really fun playing the character. And guess what? Even the kids who were watching our play thought we were the real ones and asked to be taken pictures with them. How cool is that?!

>>> Mighty Morphin Power Rangers <<<

Yellow Ranger/ Trini/ played Thuy Trang

What can I say? Hmm.. This series was aired when I was in Grade 3. I remembered it specifically as me and my classmates decided to do some bit of a role playing in class. As seat mates, we assigned each other the ranger color we will be and voila! I was yellow. That time I have learned to love the character and even every other ranger series (like, Fiveman, Bioman, Maskman) which was aired that time, I have associated myself as the Yellow Ranger. Haha. We even tagged one of my girl classmates as the enemy Rita Repulsa. Hehe.

>>> X-Men <<<

Rogue, real name Marian, is a superhero in the Marvel Comics Ultimate Universe and a member of the Ultimate X-Men.”—

Okay, first of all, according to some site her name was Marian… well no need further explaining, she is me. haha. Aside from that, I really find Rogue’s character really cool, with the ability to fly (in the Marvel series) and able to absorb any power and use it. With proper training, she probably could be the most powerful of them all. ^_^

>>> Magic Knight Rayearth <<<

Umi Ryuuzaki/ Marina (Filipino name given when it was aired in the Philippines)

–> Isn’t is obvious what my favorite color is? Yep true blue. Even though Umi’s element is water, she still is my favorite one in Rayearth. Strong personality, probably something I’ll look forward to having…

>>> Wedding Peach <<<

yuri.jpg Angel Lily/ Yuri Tanima

This was aired in Channel 2 when I was in Grade 6 i think. Yes, my chosen characters tend to have long locks (except for Ami), with a touch of blue in them. I like her character because she is the most conservative, nicest and with a hot love interest in the series. ^_^

(stay tuned for the next post… Marsi and the Villains)… Ciao!

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (Part 2)

Posted in interests, photos, television on October 19, 2007 by anairam

Update to my first post, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon:
for those who weren’t able to read my update on the comment part of the post here it is:

UPDATE: I was able to watch all 49 episodes already (with the special acts yet to explore) on the net after we got our net connection upgraded to a faster line. Anyways, if you want to watch it in the net as well, it can be found in You Tube, just type PGSM and many related videos will be displayed. And an episode is called an Act there (e.g. Episode 1= Act 1), as I have encountered some other fans who were searching for PGSM episodes rather than PGSM Act. However, the videos in You Tube are cut in parts, say an Act would total ~23 minutes, but in You Tube, uploaded were 3 parts of 9 minutes each for the first 2 and 5-6 for the last. Probably so that it is easier to load.

Halfway of my PGSM marathon, I was introduced to Facebook, were I found a group of PGSM fans who recommended a good site for full Acts. Here is the site:

It plays the full episode, and if your internet connection is fast, you can load the whole episode for 10 minutes or less. But you need to sign up first for a membership on the site. Don’t worry it’s for free. ^_^

I hope this guide helps. I thought I was the only one interested in this, but so far I was checking my stats and there were so many clicks on this topic so I thought I would update the readers.

So co-fans and interested readers, enjoy watching. And I hope to hear on what you think about it. Ciao! ^_^ ^_^

Top: (Left-Right: Mako-chan, Minako-chan, Usagi-chan, Rei-chan, and my favorite Ami-chan)

Top: In Casual Get-ups (from left: Venus, Mercury, Moon, Mars, Jupiter)

I have learned to love the series because of the drama, and the story, and the characters. Enjoy!

My Dream Dream

Posted in dreams, interests, love, photos, relationships, thoughts on October 13, 2007 by anairam

Yes, you’ve read it right. I dreamt of my dream dream. Haha. It’s just that I dreamt of my 4 crushes (previous and present, fact and fictional) all in one dream. Haha. My lucky day. It’s cute, at least two of them were present in one scene. But dreams are meant to be weird and complicated. Some scenes were sweet, in another I just find myself crying. But I’m just happy that I get to see them all together, faces were clear, they were really there with me and without me ever needing to wake up. It’s like watching, or rather, being in a TV series, with your story, your very own character and with your choice of leading men to participate. Haha. It’s just too bad I have to wake up and poof, realizing dreams are meant to be dreams. Ang haba na sana ng hair ko. Bakit kasi di na lang siya mangyari sa tunay na buhay. Hay.

To dream about a former crush, refers to that particular period in your life and what you were feeling. The former crush represents a point in time when you first had the crush on that person.

Let’s name them shall we? 2 of them were my high school crushes; one a fictional character; and one well is the present crush. Let’s give them codes. I use to refer my 2 high school crushes as Recca and Dylan. Yes, ever watched the Flame of Recca? Hehe, Recca is the real love interest of the girl, and Dylan is one man who sees the girl as his sister (because he thinks she has some resemblance to her kidnapped sister), so he also cares for her. In real life, Recca is my “high school love team” and Dylan is a close friend/ crush and he calls me ate (big sister) for some reason although he’s older than me and I end up calling him kuya (big brother). So my code names have basis, nice fit eh? Haha. Moving on, the fictional character is Chiba Mamoru, yes of Sailor Moon. But I’m referring not to the anime character but to the guy who played him in the Live Action version. Some cutie! Hehe. And last but not the least, the topic of my many blog post, the present, let’s call him Batchoy.

The first scene was we were in a videoke room. With me was Recca and one high school close friend (Icy). We were having fun on singing on videoke, teasing, kulitan, etc. till we have to end because it’s night already, and it’s closing time. But here’s the deal, a bed was suddenly there, yes, we never did walked out of the room, it is the same room we were singing in. The room was painted in white, the sheets and pillowcases were white. And that’s all you’ll ever find in the room, a bed in white, white walls and a door out.

White represents purity, perfection, peace, innocence, dignity, cleanliness, awareness, and new beginnings. You may be experiencing a reawakening or have a fresh outlook on life. However, in Eastern cultures, white is associated with death and mourning.

To dream that you are in the bedroom, signifies aspects of your self that you keep private. It is also indicative of your sexual nature.

Then it’s time to sleep. Well, first of all, nothing intimate happened eh?! I just found myself lying in bed in between Recca and Batchoy. Recca was on my right and was lying in supine like me, while Batchoy on my left was lying in prone. And that’s it. On to the next scene.

I then found myself with Dylan, who brought me to the hospital to visit his sick grandmother. As we were in front of the door, he opened it, but we didn’t enter just yet. I think I saw a ventilator from the outside, and thought her grandmother was dead and I saw myself crying right then and there. Weird eh? And to think that isn’t my grandmother.

To dream that you are crying, signifies a release of negative emotions that is more likely caused by some waking situation rather than the events of the dream itself. Your dream is a way to regain some emotional balance and a way to safely let out your fears and frustrations. In our daily lives, we tend to ignore, deny, or repress our feelings. But in our dream state, our defense mechanisms are no longer on guard and thus allow for the release of such emotions.

Hospitals really bother us a lot. We are exposed to them at many levels in our own lives and through media and entertainment. Whether you are the patient or the visitor, no one wants to be there. Yet to dream of a hospital is not uncommon.

As often as not, hospital dreams have little to do with sickness. However, in many hospital dreams, we have good reason to be there. They break down into dreams involving the emergency room, general care, intensive care, being unable to leave, and receiving nonsensical treatment in them.

General care dreams reflect our sense of needing or being needed by others. Differentiated from the above dream, general care dreams do not reflect a crisis-level anxiety, but more of a dependent lifestyle. The relationship in a hospital is a one-way flow from care-giver to patient. This is a picture of dependence.

As a general rule grandparents are a symbol of, love, security, love, protection, love, home, and love…

Anyways, as I thought she was dead, but she isn’t. We entered the room and was greeted at first by a grumpy grand mom. But then as we chat along, I figured she was beginning to like me. I saw me and Dylan passively moving her lower limbs (like that of what I do in my physical therapy profession—passive range of motion exercises). Then we were chatting with each other, I think it was about Dylan’s ex-girlfriends manner of dancing (feeling weird?) and one moment I think I saw grand mom standing and was demonstrating the dance (really really weird, haha). Then we were laughing and was happy.

Then visitors came entering the room, yes it was Chiba Mamoru, hehe. My, my, so gorgeous. Haha. He was Dylan’s friend visiting grand mom too and I think he was giving me a jealous stare. Haha. I feel like we know each other and he was wondering why I was there with Dylan. Bwahaha. Basta, bottom line selos siya kay Dylan. Weehee.

To see a celebrity in your dream, represents your beliefs and understanding about him or her. Something in you waking life has triggered these similar beliefs and feelings. It is not uncommon that your obsession with a certain celebrity may carry over onto your dream world. Celebrities are often seen as heroes and all that is mighty. Also consider any puns within the name.

The End.

Waah. I just wished it would happen in real life. But then again it won’t because Recca has a girlfriend, Dylan is getting married early next year, Batchoy is nowhere to be seen, and well, Mamoru is in Japan, maybe doing another TV series. Hay. I was just wondering what was the dream’s message. I’m yet to figure it out. But for now. I love dreaming… Haha.

By the way, here’s the pic of the guy who played Chiba Mamoru, Shibue Jyoji:

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon

Posted in interests, photos, reviews, television on July 30, 2007 by anairam

I was browsing and found this 2nd entry of mine last March 2006 on my Friendster blog. Well, I want to share the entry here so here it is.

Hay…just two weeks ago, i was surfing the net about one of my favorite characters in cartoon network toonami (Gransazers), when i encountered another blog site with one of its posts talking about certain actresses which played the roles of the sailor soldiers..curious, i clicked on the link and i found myself on the Pretty Guardian Sailormoon- Live Action series fansite! It was aired in japan sometime 2003-2004.

Hehe..I was an avid fan of sailor moon way way back in gradeschool, i even used to collect paper dolls and cards and compiled them on a folder..(pero ngayon di ko na alam kung asan yun..huhu) Wala lang, naaliw lang ako na may live action series pala yun…, meaning, real live japanese girls as sailor soldiers..

Same color (pero dito, their hair colors change only when they transform to sailor soldiers, pag normal na tao sila, black haired sila)… The story was based on the cartoon series, pero madami ding iniba from the original story (e.g. may Dark Mercury, Sailor Venus is a popstar etc.). At first i found it corny na ginawa syang live pero hours after seeing the screencaps and reading the story…hehe..syempre naappreciate ko na sya.. (di naman ako masyadong nagsasabata nito no?) Pretty pa yung mga girls na gumanap, at syempre magiging dark pa si Sailor Mercury(na favorite ko!) Wala lang ulit.. Sana maipalabas sya sa cartoon network(teka baka naman naipalabas na sya?) I was looking forward to watch all episodes (50 episodes at may 2 special acts) Sana, kaya maghahanap ako sa quiapo sa summer..hehe… or baka meron kayo jan..pahiram naman! yeye..

So, announcing, for those who might have the series or who would consider downloading it for me, for a price of course, hehe. (Yeah, I think it is downloadable, I just can’t figure it out myself and with the help of my super advanced PC!- sarcastic), I would be really, really grateful! . I am talking to those who happen to dropped by on this blog of course. Again, the title is Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon (they refer it on some websites as PGSM). Anyone interested please leave a comment (Thinking and hoping somebody would really acknowledge this, well it’s worth the try). Thanks in advance! Haha.

my fave character

Care to figure out who’s who?
